National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) yang ketiga pada tahun 2006 menunjukkan bahawa prevalens hipertensi bagi dewasa yang berumur 30 tahun dan ke atas ialah 43%, peningkatan relatif 30% daripada 10 tahun sebelumnya. Dijangkakan bahawa 4.8 juta individu di Malaysia menghidap hipertensi dan 2/3 individu penghidap hipertensi di Malaysia tidak sedar bahawa mereka mempunyai hipertensi.

The third National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) of 2006 showed that the prevalence of hypertension among adults 30 years old and above was 43%, a relative increase of 30% from that of 10 years earlier. It is now estimated that there are 4.8 million individuals with hypertension in Malaysia. The estimated figure worldwide is a staggering 1 billion individuals. The Third National Health and Morbidity Survey of 2006, close to two thirds of individuals with hypertension in Malaysia were unaware that they have hypertension.
